I. Goals and Objectives

The Creative Writing Forum gives you the opportunity to share your creative writing with other writers, trained as mentors, who want to share their interest and experience in writing.

The Creative Writing Forum accepts your creative writing at any stage in the writing process. The responsibility for the writing rests with you, the author. We're here to help you when you're stuck or want some feedback.

II. The Mentors

Mentors for the Creative Writing Forum include these Drexel University Writing Intensive Tutors:
  • Leslie
I started working as a writing tutor about two years ago in the Writing Center at Drexel. I like to write, although I don't always have the time to write things for enjoyment. I am graduating this year, and hope to use my writing skills as a law school student. In my free time, I like to read all sorts of different things and go to the beach. I am also a big dog lover.
  • Melanie
My name is Melanie and I am studying to be an elementary school teacher at Drexel University. I like all types of music and i love to read, especially horror stories. I have one sister whose name is Tiffany and I live in broomall which is a small town outside of Philadelphia. I would love to read and help you with your writing so send me some stuff.
  • Kyle
I am majoring in International Area Studies at Drexel, and I am currently in my junior year. As a part of my course requirements I take classes in German as well as in history, political science, and economics. I can't say that the classes aren't interesting, but I can say that I wish they would leave me with more time. Luckily, working here with the writing program doesn't demand too much of my schedule and even brings food to this starving student's table. Though I am usually happy with nothing more than a good book and a full CD changer to fill up my limited free time, I try to get out hiking, camping, or mountain biking whenever I can.
  • Brianna
I am currently a sophmore at Drexel University. I am apart of the Black Student Union, Honors Program, and a Peer Writing Tutor. This year I became a member of the National Scholar Collegiate Society. I am also a psychology major and upon garduation in June 2004 I hope to go on to Graduate school and obtain my PHD in Clinical Child Centered Psychology. In my free time I enjoy reading, writing, laughter, and friends.
  • Mike
My name is Michael Filoromo, and I am sophomore psychology student at Drexel University in West Philadelphia. I grew up about an hour west of the city in Coatesville, home of the Washington Wizards' Rip Hamilton for all you basketball fans. In addition to basketball, I enjoy music as well as reading and writing. I play bass and sing in a rock band called Citizen Hersh. In addition to song lyrics for my band, I write poems and short stories whenever I can, and I am constantly reading. Right now, I'm working on J.R.R. Tolkien's The Hobbit, and I just finished the Lord of the Rings trilogy. My favorite writers are Edgar Allen Poe and Michael Crichton, who wrote Jurassic Park.
  • Richard
I began working for the Math Forum after graduating from college, where I earned my Pennsylvania Teacher Certification in secondary level mathematics, and peer-tutored other students' papers as a Writing Associate. Beyond the Forum, I write for children, and research for environmental educators. I enjoy soccer -- a lot, even after two knee surgeries: I play, watch, serve my alma mater's women's varsity soccer team as an assistant coach, and collect soccer jerseys from around the world. Read more about me online at my home page.
